Speculative Writing: Cyborgs as Historical Intervention in the Myth of Drexciya | Lecture | Maya Martin | Language German
Event Details
Based on the framework of Afrofuturism, in this workshop we will discuss the figure of the cyborg through the lens of Drexciya – a modern myth in which the unborn children of enslaved Africans, thrown overboard during the passage from the African continent to America, do not die but instead mutate to survive underwater.
Together we will discuss:
- the cyborg as a figure of resistance
- speculative narratives from Black resistance traditions
- and develop our own cyborg myths.
Feel free to bring a memory or story you would like to rewrite.
