Over the last few decades, the EU's budget for the research and deployment of border surveillance technologies has rapidly increased — and with it, the dehumanizing technologies used. The presentation provides an overview of the development of EU border surveillance technologies, which today range from presence detectors, drones, biometric and AI-based applications, and databases to satellite images. Companies and start-ups in the arms and security industry, IT companies, and capital and consulting firms are profiting from dehumanizing and often mythologized technologies that make migration more deadly.
